Two species of genus
Paguristes,
Paguristes gonagrusand
Paguristes runyanae, are recorded and described for the first time from the South China Sea.
Paguristes gonagrusspecimen collected from Hannan Island is characterized by dense covering of long soft setae. Antennular peduncle far falls short of the distal corneal margins. Tubercles and spines are developed on the dactylar dorsal surface and chelipeds and ambulatory legs with violet spot distally.
Paguristesrunyanaespecimen collected from Xisha Islands is characterized by a slightly larger right cheliped, short antennular peduncle, half-length of ocular peduncles, dorsa-ventral sides of chelipeds and ambulatory legs with stripes of yellow.
